Knights Battleground Week 12
#4 Women’s Basketball continues to dominate in the early months; Men’s Basketball climbs up Region 21 rankings.
Womens Basketball:
As the first month of the basketball season ends the Lady Knights look to continue their dominant run. The Lady Knights are currently ranked #4 in the nation after their 8-0 start and beat four ranked teams earlier in the month. On Tuesday the Lady Knights hosted their first Region 21 game against Roxbury at 5:30PM. The Lady Knights dominated quickly as the end of the first quarter was 30-2 Knights the Knights defense would hold Roxbury to under 10 points until the third quarter and would also record more steals (19) than Roxbury points (15). Huge scoring performances off the bench from #24 Giana Sumner (11 points, 8 Rebounds) and #23 Meleeya Robbins (15 points, 5 steals) helped secure the dominate victory against The Roxbury Tigers 85-15.
The Lady Knights (8-0) travel to a matchup this coming week on Tuesday, December 2nd at 5:30PM where they take on the Springfield Tech Rams (0-4).
Men's Basketball:
The Knights came into the week with a 4-3 record, looking to redeem themselves after a tough loss to Massasoit 73-69 on Friday, 11/21. The Knights were set to host Roxbury for the last game of a doubleheader. The Knights controlled most of the game on both offense and defense. Great bench performances from #24 Nathan Borden (12 points, 7 rebounds) and #45 Dariel Encarnacion (10 points & 6 rebounds), pushed the Knights to a 68-53 victory over The Roxbury Tigers, and to even up their conference record to (3-3).
The Knights (5-3) have three games this coming week, traveling to Springfield Tech on Tuesday, December 2nd for a 7:30PM tip-off, as well as UCONN at Avery Point on Thursday, December 4th for a 6:00PM tip-off. Then closing out the week with a home game on Saturday, December 6th against MassBay Community college at 1PM.
